A delicious alternate to scalloped potatoes and a favorite from my husband - who is NOT doing Keto!

  • 2 pounds of turnips
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • 1 cup heavy cream

  1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Butter a 9x9 baking dish
  2. Rinse and peel the turnips. Slice turnips into 1/4 inch thick slices using a sharp knife, mandoline or food processor.
  3. Arrange 1/3 of the turnips into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Combined the garlic powder, salt and pepper and sprinkle the turnips with 1/3 of the seasoning.
  5. Combine the cheeses and sprinkle the turnips with 1/3 of the cheese
  6. Repeat the layers twice more ending with cheese.
  7. Pour the cream over the top of the mixture.
  8. Cover dish tightly with foil and bake for 50 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and continue baking for 20 minutes or until the top is lightly browned and the turnips are tender.
  10. Cool 5 minutes before serving.
When I made these, I added 1/2 cup of pepper jack cheese and only used 1 cup of Monterey jack - as it added a little different taste. I still am experimenting with this recipe and felt like the first few times I have made them, it has been a little bland.

Here is the link that will bring you right to the recipe I follow:
